“It was a different time.” Healing for GenExers

GenX, I love you. I love the childhoods we had AND some of the things we experienced weren’t….right. And middle age is causing a lot of us to look differently at our health.

As promised, here are some science-backed ways we can move through and release trauma from our brains, minds, and bodies. Google it and see what might resonate! I put a star next to the ones I’ve used and found release from!

Talk therapy*, medication*, psylicibin*, yoga*, EMDR, journaling*, poetry*, mindfulness*, meditation*, limbic system therapies, martial arts, drumming, qigong, tai chi, capoeira, jujitsu, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR)*, support networks*, relationships, coaching, trauma-based therapy, choral singing, aikido, tango dancing, kickboxing, sensorimotor therapy, play*, parent-child interactive therapy, sensory motor arousal regulation treatment, touch, bodywork*, massage*, somatic experiencing*, pendulation, hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy*, acupuncture, inner child healing, art*, self leadership, neurofeedback, theatre, heart-rate variability (HRV)*, music*, improv…the list goes on.

Anyway. I’m just a Generation X writer with a history of autoimmune disorders, depression, and anxiety. I’ve made the choice to heal my shit to give myself and my kid the most beautiful life that I can. I love my GenX peers and love those older and younger, too. Not blaming anyone (or any generation) for my problems. I’ve made the choice to heal and would love to hear from others who are doing the same!
