On signs and Easter Eggs
I wrote something I feel proud of tonight but you’re not getting that just yet. It needs a little time to marinate. So instead I’ll share something I think about a lot.
There’s a good chance we live in a simulation. Like, some scientists say it’s 50/50.
I prefer to think I’m living an all organic life experience. I’m not much of a gamer. I stopped playing soon after my brother started beating me at Super Mario Brothers.
Either way, I’m doing okay. Knowing myself – the good, the bad, the ugly – gives me advantages. Especially when it comes to my favorite concept about this life I chose.
In this so-called “real” life, I call them signs. If this is a sim – and chances are, it is – I’d call them an Easter Egg. Which I think I read about in Ready Player One.
Whichever label you choose, I really enjoy this part of the experience. The little nods, unique and meaningful only to me. Silly little things that I just made up and said – yep, at this point in the experience, this is gonna mean something and help me navigate this human experience.
Anyway, that’s just something I think about.
