Rest
A colleague today said to me, “Sicknesses remind us of the speed of biology when we've become accustomed to the rapid pace of modern life.”
Truer words.
Being locked on the couch for three days has given me lots of down time — likely downtime I should have taken weeks ago but pushed through anyway.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but there’s a good chance I’m not the only one who needs this reminder:
Rest. Take a break. Tap out for a minute. Our brains didn’t evolve for this world. Our bodies need more recovery than we ever think to allow them.
This endless month called January was meant for hibernation. And though many of us are being called to speak, organize, advocate, protest, and create — making sure we’re shutting down to recover must also be a priority.
